Accommodation
Housing
ESL students can live in one of the university dormitories or apartments, or they can live off campus. On-campus dormitories are most appropriate for students 17-23 years old. Space is limited, so it is important to apply early. There is no University housing for married students. You can live in a residence hall if you're an unmarried undergraduate or ESL student. Capital's residence halls are co-educational. At Capital, that means men and women live in the same buildings but in separate living areas.you will be sharing a room with another student. However, if you're willing to pay more, you may be able to get a single room. Smoking is forbidden in all university buildings; including residence halls and students' private rooms. All students must go outside to smoke. Each residence hall is managed by a Residence Hall Coordinator (R.H.C.) who supervises several Residence Assistants (R.A.s). Each R.A. is in charge of a single floor. The R.A. lives among the students on that floor, helping them understand their rights and responsibilities and organizing meetings and special programs for their benefit. You should always do your best to attend residence hall and floor meetings.
OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING
There are no university-owned apartments at Capital. So if you're a married student or graduate student, you must rent a privately owned apartment or house.
*Furniture, which you usually have to rent separately from a furniture rental company.
*Utilities, such as gas and electricity. Before you sign a lease, you should ask what the estimated monthly utility costs will be. You'll have to pay deposits to the utility companies before they will turn on your lights, heat, etc.
Student Life
At Capital University, you’ll learn more about American culture than you ever thought you would – both inside and outside the classroom. Life on our campus is anything but ordinary as we are truly in a “best of both worlds” location. Minutes from the city benefits of Columbus, Ohio, yet far enough removed for the safety of a traditional college town. Our suburb of Bexley is great for college students of all types – those that love movies, food, shopping, running, walking and more. Capital’s residential campus is the perfect place to spend your college years. You may be far from home but you are gaining a second home at Capital. And a second family – your Capital Family. The attentive staff of our International Education Office and our caring faculty and friendly students are always looking out for you and making sure your time on campus is rewarding. We even have an International Student Association and nearly 100 other student organizations where you can become a leader amongst your peers. In short, Capital is what college should be and Columbus is one of the best places you can live in the United States. There is a world of possibility awaiting you on (and off!) campus. In the vibrant metropolitan area of Columbus — a city that often makes “top 10” lists for livability, technology, opportunity and jobs—students plug into a diverse economy that’s home to many Fortune 500 companies in the third largest city in the Midwest. For our students, Columbus becomes a training ground that offers ample opportunity for internships, research projects and community service, as well as a chance to take those first steps toward changing the world.
