Conditional Admission
A student may apply for a degree program with insufficient English proficiency and may be conditionally admitted to a degree program at UW - Eau Claire. The student may enroll in UW-Eau Claire's Intensive English Program (IEP). The student would matriculate to their degree program after receiving recommendation from the ESL Coordinator. Conditional admission is to the university. Students do not receive conditional admission to a particular undergraduate program at the point of admission to the university. The student would need to go through any additional application processes to be considered for admission to majors with competitive/selective admission.

Each class meets for two hours per day for a total of four hours per day or 20 hours of classes per week. Studies are done through courses that focus on academic and social language. Integrated skills courses that incorporate reading,writing, listening and speaking are the core classes of the program.

Eau Claire have 11 residence halls (nine co-ed and two single-gender), including Chancellors Hall, which offers apartment-style living. All halls have a 24-hour access computer lab, study lounge, exercise room, kitchen, TV lounge, and laundry room. General Hall Information The eleven residence halls on campus provide living space for over 3,900 students. The individual rooms are designed to be as conducive to studying and as comfortable for living as possible. Room furnishings include single beds, illuminated desks with chairs, bookcases, wardrobes, chests of drawers, draperies, mirrors, TV/FM/Telephone receptacles and cable cords, bulletin boards, garbage baskets and recycling bins. Students must furnish their own telephones, pillows, bed linen, blankets, bedspreads, washcloths and towels. Mattress pads are furnished.
