- Students are not eligible for admission to this program if they have already received a high school diploma in their home country or in the U.S.
- Students must provide proof of English proficiency. Students whose English is not yet at college level can begin in Pierce College's Intensive English Program.
- Students who apply to this program will receive a free evaluation of their transcripts. This will determine an approximate length of study needed to complete the requirements for a high school diploma and associate's degree. Accommodation
Homestay: If students choose homestay, they will live with a carefully-selected American host family. Hosts provide a private, fully furnished room, three meals a day, and a family atmosphere. This is a great option if the student wants to experience American culture firsthand. The total cost is $600 per month.
Single room: If students wish to live independently and prepare their own meals, they can rent a private furnished room in the home of a local family. They will have access to bathroom and family kitchen facilities in the home. Single rooms rent for $450 per month.
Apartment: There are many apartments near the Pierce College campus, but the school does not make placement arrangements.The school recommends students to start with a temporary homestay. Apartments rent for approximately $575 to $1,500 per month, depending on size, number of bedrooms, condition, and so on. In addition, students will be responsible for paying for electricity and heat, and you will pay a security deposit at the time of rental. Most of the apartments are unfurnished.
Surrounding Area
The Pierce College District is location in Pierce County, Washington, approximately 30 miles south of Seattle. There are two colleges in the district, both of with offer stunning views of Mount Rainier. Pierce College Fort Steilacoom is located on 140 acres in the city of Lakewood, which is 10 miles southwest of Tacoma. The campus is adjacent to Fort Steilacoom Park, which boasts 342 acres on Waughhop Lake with walking and horse trails, play areas, and fields. The campus is just one mile from the waters of the Puget Sound, and snow-covered mountain ranges visible in both directions. Pierce College Puyallup is located in the city of Puyallup, which is 10 miles southeast of Tacoma and home to the largest fair in the state. The Puyallup campus is on 85 wooded acres in the South Hill area of Puyallup. It is within walking distance of restaurants and shopping.

Activity
Washington is renowned for its mild climate. Temperatures range from 5-10 degrees Celsius in the winter to the low-20sC in the summer. Winter weather is generally rainy. Snow is rare, except in the mountains, where conditions are excellent for skiing and snowboarding. Summers are drier and quite sunny and mild. Popular summertime activities include hiking and kayaking.
학교는 듣던대로 아주 깔끔하고 좋아요! 어학과정 IEP는 Compass test를 치루고 레벨을 받으면 토플 점수 없이도 IEP를 바로 넘기고 대학 과정을 수강 할 수 있더라구요! 그렇게 어렵지도 않아요. 전 그걸 몰라서 다 수강했지만요ㅜㅜ IEP 자체도 수업이 탄탄하게 짜여진 느낌을 많이 받았어요. 물론 교수님에 따라 편차는 있겠지만 기본적으로 레벨이 세세하게 나눠지다 보니 본인 수준에 맞는 수업을 제공 받을 수 있어요. 여름시즌 액티비티는 아주 다양했는데 아무래도 방학 시즌이다 보니 해변가, 레이니어 산, 빅토리아 등등으로 많이 놀러다닌 편이에요. 가을 액티비티도 여름만큼은 아니지만 다양하게 준비되어 있구요.
레이크우드가 번화하다곤 말 할 순 없지만 그렇다고 외지지도 않아서 사는데 불편함은 많이 느끼지 않아요. 다만 조금 더 여유롭게 생각한다면 말이죠..ㅎㅎ 주변에 큰 한인마트도 두개나 있고 버스도 정확한 시간에 도착하구요. 씨애틀까진 차타고 40분가량, 대중교통으로는 두시간반정도 걸려요. 가깝진 않지만 마음 먹고 가기에 괜찮은 거리에요.
