New England School of English(NESE)About the
Establishment 1990, At NESE, students learn more than just language; they learn American culture as well. Our students succeed rapidly because intensive English language training combined with complete cultural immersion has proven to maximize language learning. At NESE, students attend intensive classes during the day and have the opportunity to go home to an American family homestay or a dormitory in the evening. All day, every day, our intensive program exposes students to American language and culture, providing an opportunity for the fastest language learning possible. At NESE, we understand that professionals want to be taught by professionals. Consequently, our teachers hold degrees from Harvard, Yale, Columbia, or other top universities and have extensive teaching experience. Our curriculum, designed by graduates of The Harvard Graduate School of Education, is periodically reviewed by our Board of Advisors, ensuring that the quality of our programs is always maintained at a very high level.
For those students interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree program in the United States, NESE places special emphasis on providing students with the skills and guidance needed to attain these goals.
Curriculum :
Our intensive curriculum is specially designed to help students achieve their academic goals as rapidly as possible. In addition to our intensive classes, we offer a TOEFL® Preparation course, the Institutional TOEFL® exam each month, and a University Preparation course. We also offer extensive educational counseling and a university placement service, a university resource library to help students plan future studies in the United States, and admission into area universities without taking TOEFL®.
Because of the flexibility of the NESE curriculum, professionals can choose the classes they want to take. This is ideal for professionals whose work does not allow them to follow our intensive curriculum. In addition to our regular intensive program, private instruction and NESE elective courses are some of the options at NESE for professionals.
The NESE curriculum is divided into 10 levels of intensive instruction. In each level, you attend classes every day from either 9:00 - 3:15 every day (the Intensive Program). Additionally, depending on your goals and needs, you may attend some of the elective and after-school courses that we offer.

Home Stay
NESE's American homestay program is designed to provide cultural exposure to American family life in a warm and supportive environment. It is your home away from home. Your homestay family will provide you with friendship, care, and an ideal opportunity to use your English and experience American culture. NESE carefully selects all homestay families, and every family has a great deal of experience hosting foreign students. Often our families introduce students to new activities. You might learn to water-ski in Maine, sail in Cape Cod, or ski in Vermont. Whatever parts of New England you and your family explore, you can be sure that you will remain friends with them for years to come.
Dorm
Throughout the year, you can live in a dormitory. Living in a NESE dormitory will provide you with a unique opportunity to make friends with other students your own age and to experience Boston life at its best. Pizza nights, video nights, and picnics on the Charles River are all part of student life in these dormitories. As a dormitory resident, you will participate in all of these activities with a diverse and interesting group of people. NESE has three dormitories, one for younger students (Green Hall) , one for mid-age students (Poppet Hall) , and one for professionals (Lee Hall) . All dormitories are located only 15 minutes from NESE near the campuses of Harvard and MIT. All dormitories offer students either single or double rooms, full linen and cleaning service, and breakfast and dinner every day of the week.
Surrounding Area
NESE is located adjacent to Harvard University in the center of Harvard Square in Cambridge. Harvard Square is a focal point of student activity and one of the most interesting and dynamic student centers in the United States.
