Diablo Valley College is one of three publicly supported two-year community colleges in the Contra Costa Community College District. The main campus is located off Interstate 680 in Pleasant Hill, California and 20 miles east of UC Berkeley. A San Ramon Campus in Dougherty Valley opened its doors to students in November of 2006. DVC serves more than 22,000 students of all ages with these program options: Associate in arts degree, Associate in science degree, Transfer credit to four year colleges, Articulation agreements with University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) systems, Vocational training, Certificates of achievement, Certificates of accomplishment and Lifelong personal improvement opportunities. Whether focusing on studying English to improve academic success, or achieving career goals, IEC''s course of study can help students to reach their goal. IEC offers 6 levels of English courses; students are administered a proficiency test during orientation which determines their course level at IEC. Upon completing Advanced B, students may enter Diablo Valley College without a TOEFL score or IELTS score. Each course is 8 weeks in duration with emphasis on Reading, Writing & Grammar, Listening & Speaking is only offered as a midday course. There's 10 to 15 students in each class.

Most IEC students choose to live in a house with a homestay family or in a furnished apartment with other international students near IEC and DVC. Homestay placements are provided by Diablo Valley Homestay and apartment placements are provided by Rexidence Residental Services. Both options provide students with an affordable, safe, and quality living accommodation.
