By taking ESL courses at CalCC, students learn how to meet the high standards demanded by the academic community and professional workplace.

Students will learn the basic skills needed to survive in an English speaking environment.
Listening and reading comprehension will be stressed strongly during the first level.
In the second and third levels, students will improve their communication, grammar and pronunciation skills along with their vocabulary. They will also be introduced to the cultural values of American society enabling them to assimilate with ease.
They will be introduced to additional terminology and hands-on training using word processing. Computer assisted instruction will be utilized with Internet to create international communications.
Fourth and fifth level ESL students will improve their communication skills. They will prepare documents using the basic guidelines of developing an outline, researching and composing the findings of this research around the defined outline.
Vocabulary and grammar skills will be improved to reach the level required to prepare such documents.
Sixth level ESL students will utilize language skills learned in earlier levels and apply them to content requiring critical thinking. Students research, analyze and discuss topics related to literary content. They are expected to produce presentations and convey their ideas orally and clearly. They are assigned to draft and write topical and thematic essays.

English, but also using that language as a medium to effectively prepare students to choose the right major in their education planning.
This program is comprised of 4 comprehensive modules. Each module is sub-divided into 3
sessions of 4 weeks each. Every 4 weeks session is designed to focus on a different career field/industry (e.g. Social Media, Hospitality, Sports, Human Resources, Accounting, Computer Science, Fashion Design, etc).
Students can book a single module or multiple modules of this program.
OBJECTIVES

무엇보다 실리콘벨리에 esta 비자로 공부할 수 있어 너무 좋습니다. 저처럼 직장인, 대학생들, 주부, 은퇴자를에게 f-1 비자없이 공부 할 수 있어 더 좋습니다 Esl 수업은 1,2,3 파트로 나눠져있고 1파트(Cross-Cultural Conversation)에선 다양한 국적의 소수 인원과 함께 공통된 질문을 영어로 소통하는 시간을 갖게 됩니다. 수업 과정에서 표현하고자 하는 말을 선생님이 교정해 주시고 실질적으로 많이 쓰는 표현으로 알려주셔서 실용적인 도움이 많이 되는 것 같습니다. 2파트(Reading & Writing Practice)에서는 실생활 표현, 숙어가 이용된 글을 활용하여 글을 같이 읽은 후 문제를 풀고, 글에 나온 표현들을 활용하여 직접 자신이 구사하고 소통하는 시간을 갖게 됩니다. 선생님께서 표현이 적합한 상황에 이용될 수 있도록 다양한 예시들을 많이 알려주시고 무엇보다 소통을 많이 할 수 있는 것이 좋은 부분인 것 같습니다. 3파트(Survival English)에선 영상이나 다양한 콘텐츠를 듣고 퀴즈에 대한 답을 영어 문장로 작성해 보는시간을 갖게 됩니다. 이 과정을 통해서 질문에 대한 답을 찾고 문장으로 작성해 보는 시간을 갖게 되어 말하기, 읽기, 쓰기를 다양한 방식으로 할 수 있어서 영어를 배우기에 매우 도움된 시간이라고 생각합니다. 무엇보다 공통된 언어가 없는 외국인과 함께 거의 6시간 동안 소통하고 말을 하는 상황들이 많다 보니 조금 힘들기도 하였지만 영어 공부에 있어서 도움이 많이 될 것 같다고 생각합니다. 추가적으로 핼러윈시기가 겹쳐서 행사에 참여했는데 다양한 사람들과 영어로 대화하고 친해질 기회가 많아서 좋았습니다. 숙박은 제가 아는 지인집에서 머물렀습니다
