The American Language Center (ALC) in Los Angeles and stablished in 1975,ALC is a proud member of AAIEP. The , ALC offers English language training to speakers of other languages. ALC students are encouraged to speak English as much as possible, with both classmates and native speakers. Fully accredited ALC instructors have master's degree in applied English and TESOL certificate. With their knowledge gained from teaching non-English speaking students around the world, ALC instructors at UCLA will help the students to experience and improve their English by adapting to life in the United States. UCLA is one of the most prestigious schools in the West Coast and one of the top public universities in the United States. The Academic Intensive English Program (AIEP) is offered in 10-week sessions during the fall, winter and spring, and 6- or 12-week sessions during the summer. The program is offered at 7 levels, from Beginner to Advanced. Placement in these levels is determined by the results of the Placement Test and interview students take on the first day of their program. Students enrolled in the program receive 23 lessons per week. Class sizes generally range from 14 to 18 students per class.The AIEP is designed to academically prepare students to enter an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an American college or university; the program is also designed for those students who wish to study English for personal or professional enrichment. Students at all levels of instruction receive challenging instruction focused on improving their speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar skills through various games and computer-based instruction. Students at the high-intermediate and advanced levels have the opportunity to choose from such elective classes as TOEFL Preparation, Business Communications, American Slang, English through Movies and others. Students at the advanced level have the opportunity to enroll in UCLA undergraduate classes while continuing to study in the AIEP program.

5 hours a day, 9am-3pm, Monday-Thursday; 3 hours 9am-12pm Friday.

The General Business Studies Certificate with Concentration in Advertising is a 36-unit program offered by the Department of Business, Management, and Legal Programs and is intended for individuals whose unique personal interest or profession requires them to take a series of courses in management with a focus on advertising. Students must complete 36 units of coursework within the academic disciplines of Management. All courses must be numbered X 1-199 or X 400-499 and at least 16 of the required units must be from the field of advertising. In addition, students must successfully complete one of the designated ethics courses at any time during the program. To earn this certificate, students making progress toward, or who have previously satisfied the requirements of, another UCLA Extension certificate must complete a minimum of 20 units beyond that which satisfies the other program.
All courses to be applied toward this certificate must be taken for a letter grade. Students must complete and pass the curricular requirements of the program and earn an overall 2.5 GPA or better to achieve certificate award.
