The City of Chico is located 90 miles north of Sacramento in the northern end of the lush Sacramento Valley. With an urban population of approximately 90,000, Chico has the charm of a small town, with all the amenities of a big city. California State University, Chico (Chico State) is the second-oldest campus in the twenty-three-campus California State University system. It is located in Chico, California, about ninety miles north of Sacramento. As of the Fall 2012 semester, the university had a total enrollment of 16,470 students. The university offers 126 types of Bachelor's degrees, 35 Master's degrees, and four types of teaching credentials. Chico State is known for its academic programs in engineering, science, computing, business, technology, environmental studies, Theatre Arts and communication. The university has more than 50 Departments and offers more than 150 undergraduate degrees. It is organized into seven colleges and four schools.
