FLS offers the valuable opportunity to combine students' English program with the experience of living with an American host family. The staff provides carefully selected homestays where students can practice conversational English and experience the American way of life. FLS offers shared apartment accommodation to students interested in a more independent lifestyle. Student apartments are fully furnished with kitchen and dining areas, and a shared common area. Additional amenities include a swimming pool and fitness center.
Surrounding Area
TTU is situated in Cookeville, a growing town with a population of 25,000, and offers students a combination of small town charm with easy access to scenic woods and short drives to busy metro areas. Nearby Nashville, known as Music City, USA, is the ultimate destination for music fans worldwide, with such iconic attractions as the Grand Ole Opry, historic Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame. At the Country Music Hall of Fame, students can learn about the history of American music and exhibits on such figures as Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. Students can also spend a fun day at Dollywood amusement park, with its unique combination of thrill rides, concerts, arts and craft shops and historic attractions. Central Tennessee has mild to cool winters and hot summers; the state receives approximately 50 inches of rain annually and 5 inches of snow.
