Students from all over the world with different nationality and cultural background have chosen ELS program to study English in a new Environment. Nationalities of students include Arabic (34%), Portuguese (20%), Spanish (16%), Japanese (15%), Chinese (6%), and Korean (6%). The percentage may vary each month.
Conditional Admission
The ELS curriculum is refreshed and improved regularly through suggestions and feedback from our most experienced instructors and from our students. ELS provides instruction in all aspects of English, including listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. New students are tested on arrival and are placed into one of the 12 proficiency levels: Levels 101-112. Each level consists of 20 to 30 class hours per week. ELS programs meet the needs of anyone who wants to improve his or her English. Those who wish to study at a university or college take the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) track of our Intensive English Program. Those who wish to improve their English for personal or professional reasons will benefit from the General English (GE) track of the Intensive English program. For those who have less time for study, ELS offers a semi-intensive program of 20 hours a week.

Students practice conversation and other speaking skills using practical, real-world English. Students learn
to write with accuracy and effectiveness, develop strategic listening skills and improve your use
of grammar.
Students work on his individual language skills and objectives through technology-supported learning in our modern Language Technology Centers.

* If a student withdraws or is dismissed after 30% of the period of instruction specifed in the contract has elapsed, no refund is required.
*All tuition due under contract will be refunded if visa is denied so long as (A) student informs ELS Language Centers within a reasonable period; (B) student provides ELS Language Centers with written verifcation from Canadian Immigration that visa has been denied.
* If a student withdraws, in writing, from homestay at least one month prior to the homestay commencement date, homestay rent will be refunded in full.

Each student will have a private room* in a Canadian home located within a reasonable distance from the Center (an average of 45-65 minutes by public transportation) **. Full Board meal plan consists of 3 meals per day. Students are responsible for their personal transportation. Most students use public buses, the sea bus, or skytrains to come to school. The Center is in a dynamic, international neighborhood of fashionable shops and cafés, art galleries, theatres and public libraries, all located within walking distance. ELS Vancouver has several established international pathway programs in Canada. Students can take advantage of our pathway programs to enter community colleges or universities in Canada after completing their studies at ELS Vancouver. The Center is easily reached by public transit (two blocks from the Skytrain station) and water taxi (4 blocks from the Seabus), as well as numerous buses.
