A globalized and top-notch university in China, SISU has successfully developed a diverse and distinctive mix of disciplines with language and literature as its pillar. Having established and maintained a high academic stature among universities of its kind, the University has been funded to offer ten national featured specialties, adding to the existing three national key disciplines and one national undergraduate education platform for non-universal foreign languages. In recent years, SISU’s distinctive strength has been further enhanced with the number of language-related degree programs increasing to 25 (covering 21 foreign languages) and the number of doctoral and master’s degree programs significantly growing, resulting in a more balanced educational structure.
The Intensive Chinese Language Program is specially orchestrated for the international students who are going to study undergraduate programs in China, and those who want to improve their Chinese proficiency in a short term. The program aims at helping the international students, within a short period of time, construct their own Chinese language system, do daily communication in Chinese and speak or discuss on a topic in Chinese by focusing on Chinese lexicology and grammar teaching. After completing one academic year’s course of the program, the students’ Chinese proficiency is expected to meet the requirements of entering an undergraduate program in China and reach HSK grade 6.
Curriculum : The curriculum of the program includes Basic Chinese Language Courses, including Comprehensive Chinese (grammar, conversation, Chinese characters), Chinese Listening Comprehension, Chinese Reading and Chinese Conversation.HSK Intensive Training Courses, focusing on intensive training in the aspects of Chinese listening, grammar, reading and comprehensive Chinese is also included. The program consists of 36 teaching hours per week.

Dormitory in Songjiang Campus (Only for students who study degree programs in Songjiang Campus): a three-storey building built in 2001, is located on Songjiang Campus of SISU. Each room is equipped with an air-conditioner, a private bath, a telephone, a TV set and free Wi-fi access. SISU Guesthouse, an 18-storey building, built in 2000 and refurnished in 2011, is located on Hongkou Campus, just opposite to the SISU Gymnasium which is equipped with a swimming pool, a fitness center, a billiard table and indoor volleyball/basketball/badminton court. Inside there is a cafeteria, a grocery, a beauty parlor and an ATM. Both double rooms and single rooms are available. Each room is equipped with central air-conditioning, a private bathroom (tub bath/shower), a telephone, a TV set, internet access, etc. There’s a communal use kitchen on each floor, with a washing machine, a fridge and a microwave oven.

- Bank: Chinese fiction and on the right bank (Shanghai Foreign Language Education Publisher building) come out the front door, a 10-minute walk across the street Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Bank. - Gai: E-Mart and Carrefour, a 20-minute walk from the guesthouse preface page. - Post office: a 20-minute walk straight out to the left side of the street as a preface. - Korea Restaurant: This restaurant is a delicacy circle go out the front door across the street along the side street delivery is also available on campus University of Foreign Studies (Tel: 6587-7306) - Sports facilities (campus) is sangoe health center on the right of the four-storey building comes as a preface. 1st floor swimming pool, 2 story gym, Gymnasium floor is 3,4. - Arts: Lu Xun Park is right in front of the main entrance. - PC room located in the Alumni across a 5-minute walk from the preface. - Bookstores: The Education Publishing building on the first floor right side out through the front door in Shanghai Foreign Language.

Year-round cultural events like the Intercultural Festival, the Freshman Welcome Week, the University Arts Festival and the Academic Forum for Postgraduate Students create a rich cultural atmosphere and a unique university experience. Schools and departments also hold cultural activities with their own characteristics, such as the Shakespeare Drama Festival held by the School of English Language and Literature,Kōhaku by the School of Japanese Cultural and Economic Studies, the Cervantes Festival by the Department of European Studies.
