It belongs to the Literature and Languages Department of the Catholic University of Lyon. Surrounding Area
The city of Lyon is a cultural center. You
can go to the Opera and to the National Orchestra of Lyon, or to the National Conservatory
of Music and the «Théâtre National Populaire». Sciences are also well represented
in Lyon because the city has many international research centers for rare
diseases (laboratoire P4) and research centers for cancer (le Centre Léon
Bérard). As far as industry is concerned, chemistry takes an important role at
the French Institute of Petrol and at Rhône Poulenc. Lyon is also the European
headquarters of Interpol and Euronews (an informational TV channel broadcasted
in every European language). In choosing Lyon, you have the possibility to
study at the Catholic University, in one of the three Universities or in a «Grande
Ecole» (for example the School of Architecture, the National school of Construction,
the School of Management of Lyon and the School of Theatre). History of Lyon,
from Lugdunum to today Lyon was once called Lugdunum and was the Roman capital of
Three Gauls. It was also a major European crossroads and capital of printing
during the sixteenth century. Moreover, Lyon is the capital of silk and represented
the end of the silk road from China. Many famous people were born in Lyon including
André Marie Ampère (discoverer of electromagnetism), the Lumière brothers (inventors
of cinema) and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (aviator and author of the Petit
Prince). Lyon has been the center of many great historical events. The work of
the canuts (silk weavers) made Lyon an important city during the Industrial
Revolution. During World War II, the Prefect Jean Moulin made Lyon the center
of the Resistance movement. Lyon is also the capital of gastronomy. Beaujolais
wine is made in the nearby countryside. It is served often with Lyon sausage or
a plate of delicious quenelles.

Getting to the school from the airport
ILCF Lyon is located downtown and can be reached by subway (Bellecour, lines A and D) or by tramway «Rhôneexpress» from the International Airport Lyon Saint-Exupéry. From Part-Dieu Railway Station : take subway line B direction «Gare d’Oullins». Then take line D at «Saxe-Gambetta» direction «Gare de Vaise» and exit at the «Bellecour « stop. From Perrache Railway Station: take subway line A direction «Vaulx-en-Velin - Laurent Bonnevay» then exit two stops after, at the «Bellecour» stop.
