The Goethe-Institut is the official cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany since 1951 and has a network of 136 Goethe-Instituts and 11 liaison offices in 93 countries, 750 cooperative partners around the world and 13 Goethe-Instituts in Germany at the moment. There are 185.000 language students per year learning German at one of the Goethe-Instituts worldwide. Each year approximately 32,000 course participants from all over the world appreciate the high-quality, systematic and wide-ranging program of German courses at 13 locations in Germany. The exciting cultural and leisure program guarantee a smooth start and rapid integration into daily life in Germany. How is an intensive course structured?
First of all, you choose the intensive German course which is suitable for you and book the course at your desired location and for your preferred date.
After a free-of-charge placement test, which you can either take online or on-site, we will assign you to the level suited to you.
Our intensive courses take place from Monday to Friday, either in the morning or the afternoon, depending on the course location.
In total, an intensive course comprises 80 lessons (one lesson = 45 minutes), in Frankfurt 75 lessons, which, depending on the course, are spread over 10 to 16 course days. That means you are attending class for approx. 2 to 3 weeks and have on average 5 lessons per course day.
If you wish, in addition to your intensive German course, you can book accommodation in one of our guest houses, partner hotels or with a private host.
What does an intensive German course involve?
Our intensive courses offer you language training with a high degree of learning intensity and effectiveness. The intensive courses allow you to attain your personal language goals particularly quickly and daily language practice enables you to improve your powers of expression in a short period of time.
You will train in an active and highly-motivated group with on average a maximum of 16 participants.
Your lessons will be practical and based on key intercultural aspects of communication.
We have integrated customised learning and training phases in the course programme. In these phases, our experienced teachers support your learning process continuously.
Our extensively equipped media resource centres also provide you with a large selection of additional exercise options for self-directed learning.
The attractive cultural and leisure programme also allows you to practise your German outside lessons and to get to know Germany.

One-room apartments in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen or Frankfurt-Theaterplatz 17–20 sq.meter single rooms (non-smoking), basic furnishings (with TV and table), bed linen and towels, weekly or biweekly cleaning service, own shower and WC, integrated kitchenette with refrigerator (self-catering), WLAN (extra charge in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen), and washing machine and dryer in basement (charge applies) are provided. There is very good public transportation links approximately 15–20 minutes' walk or five minutes by bus/U-Bahn from the Goethe-Institut.
Private Accommodation (bookings preferably for one to two weeks) Single room (non-smoking), basic, functional furnishings, bed linen and towels, cleaning service every two weeks, shower and WC (separate or shared with host), and access to cooking facilities (separate or shared with host) are provided.
Surrounding Area
The Goethe-Institut Frankfurt is situated near the Museum Mile, opposite the Südbahnhof railway station in the attractive Sachsenhausen district, a popular residential area with plenty to do in the evening. There are excellent public transportation links from the institute to the city center.
