Sprachenatelier BerlinAbout the
Sprachenatelier Berlin is an international centre for language learning, cultural exchange and the promotion of art. Although the main focus is offering German courses to students from around the world, we also promote art and artists working in film, literature, painting, sculpture, music, etc. The aim is to offer students learning German and other languages the international cultural experience that defines Berlin's culture as a whole, while in turn providing artists with young global audiences to attend their film showings, readings, exhibitions and concerts in the Sprachenatelier salon. Students themselves are also encouraged to actively display their own creativity and artistic talents at events hosted by Sprachenatelier. Daily cultural outings are also a key aspect of the learning experience at Sprachenatelier. The trips to places of cultural and historical interest around Berlin and to cities such as Potsdam, Dresden, Leipzig and Munich enable students to activate newly acquired language skills and immerse themselves in the diversity of German culture. At Sprachenatelier international politics is an important aspect of culture. This belief is reflected in the school's hosting of events that focus on a single country, its political situation and cultural mood. At these events, experts are invited to participate in panel discussions and artists present their work as well as discuss the political climate of their respective country from the perspective of the artist. The ability to offer such culturally rich and diverse opportunities is made possible by the network of contacts and partners, which comprises over 50 colleges and universities from five continents.

Accommodation
AKTUELLE ANGEBOTE (nur für bereits angemeldete TeilnehmerInnen): Sprachenatelier offers participants registered for German courses assistance with finding accommodation in close proximity to the school, often in an apartment, a room in a shared apartment, a hotels or a hostels. Prices for a room in a shared apartment vary between 300 to 400€ per month, depending on the size and furnishing of the room. Although we do our best to fulfill the accommodation requirements of all of our students, it is important for course participants to note that early registration improves the likelihood of finding the desired form of accommodation. Hostels are the best accommodation for short durations (less than one month), as they are inexpensive starting at 10€ per night. Sprachenatelier also can make arrangements for course participants to stay in a room in one of the student dormitories of the Berliner Studentenwerk. Staying with a host family in Berlin is a good option for younger students.
Hostels Hostels offer budget accommodation for backpackers and other individual travelers who seek a more communal environment and contact with other young people while valuing inexpensive prices over privacy or luxury. Hostels offer rooms with multiple beds, typically ranging from two beds (more expensive) up to 12 or more (less expensive). Sprachenatelier cooperates with the following hostels, all of which are conveniently located near the school:
Pegasus Hostel Berlin I Odyssee Globetrotter Hostel The Sunflower Hostel I U inn Berlin Hostel All of these hostels are conveniently located near Sprachenatelier, either a short distance on the public transport or walking distance (Odysee), and are conveniently situated amidst numerous cafes, bars, inexpensive restaurants and clubs as well as tourist sites such as the famous East Side Gallery section of the former Berlin Wall.
Student-shared flat Another form of accommodation for students who wish to have daily contact with other (especially German-speaking) people is to rent a room in a shared flat (Wohngemeinschaft - WG for short). Berlin WGs vary greatly in occupancy—from two to 20 housemates. Whether it's sharing breakfast, cooking, talking or partying, a room in a shared flat provides students with opportunities to socialize in German and is a good option for a long or short stay. Berlin also has an array of city magazines and daily newspaper which list room and apartment rentals. The current monthly price for a room in a shared apartment ranges from 200 to 400 Euros.
Host family Accommodation with a host family is a popular option among younger students from abroad who come to Germany for a language course or for a school exchange year. A host family offers you your own comfortable room, a nice family who will make you feel comfortable and at home.
