Kapito Sprachschule MünsterAbout the
KAPITO is located in Münster because the German spoken here is accent-free. The guiding principle of our school is that the student always comes first. From your very first day until the presentation of the final certificate, we are committed to ensuring that your stay in Münster is a success.
On average, the courses are attended by 120 to 150 students, with 200 in summer. Some students stay for 2 or 3 weeks, many for 3 to 6 months, and a few even stay for up to a year, for instance to prepare for a university course in Germany.
For more than 25 years now, the focus of our work has been on German courses.
Lessons have a clear structure and are oriented towards the European Reference Framework. Modern media, up-to-date course material with a combination of text and vocabulary work, grammar, phonetics and conversation make effective learning possible.
The classes are small and made up of people from various countries, and the emphasis is always on the practical use of language, i.e. on the participants’ ability to speak and understand.
Each group is taught by two tutors and, most importantly, from the very first lesson the teaching language is German.
After a placement test and an interview at KAPITO you are assigned to classes which correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The CEFR levels distinguish between language ability in reading, listening, writing and reading:
A1 and A2 = elementary
B1 and B2 = independent
C1 = competent
As a rule, it takes 8 weeks to successfully complete a level. The B2 and C1 levels normally take longer than 8 weeks. At the end of each course participants receive a certificate with a grade.
The lessons take place Monday to Friday from 9am till 12.30, with a half hour break at 10.30.
After the lesson has finished at 12.30, you can go, like most students, to the university canteen (Mensa) for lunch (you can get lunch or supper here for € 4 – 6). For some students afternoon classes then start from 1.30pm. Others come back to KAPITO to write emails, get help with homework or just meet with friends. We close the school at 6pm at the latest

Our University Preparation Course prepares participants for the TestDaF and DSH university entrance language examinations. The course comprises a basic module (beginners) and an advanced module (non-beginners). The basic module lasts 24 weeks and works through levels A1, A2 and B1. The advanced module continues at level B2 and lasts 12 weeks.
The language teaching is geared right from the start to meeting the university entrance examination requirements and to providing you with the language skills you will need during your university studies. You work in small groups with a maximum of 12 participants and not only familiarize yourself with grammar and everyday communication but also, from a very early stage, learn how to work with written texts, to produce written work on specific topics, to understand lengthy and complex listening texts and take notes from them, etc.
The basic and advanced modules each have 24 lessons per week; the total course lasts 36 weeks, which is 864 lessons in total. You can also take part in our free learning support and homework supervision in the afternoons.
The lessons take place Monday to Friday from 9am till 12.30, with a half hour break at 10.30.

Accommodation
You can book a room with breakfast, half-board or no meals which includes the use of the host’s kitchen. Most of the rooms are in the center of town. The rooms that are further away can easily be reached by bus or bicycle. Some hosts provide bicycles free of charge or for a small fee. The maximum distance between the accommodation and the school is 8 km. If you want to stay nearer to the school, we offer an option “under 2 kilometers” (see our price list). Rooms are only available for the period of the course (from Sunday to Saturday). Any other times must be agreed on in advance with KAPITO. If you wish to stay in a hotel, we will be happy to send you a list of recommendations.
Surrounding Area
With more than 300,000 inhabitants, Münster is the biggest town in northern Westphalia and one of the cities with the highest quality of life in Germany. Its inhabitants speak dialect-free German, ride bicycles and enjoy life. Young people define the city of Münster and contribute significantly to its open and friendly atmosphere.
The picturesque historical centre of the 1200-year-old city and its numerous churches and museums offer delightful contrasts to the many examples of modern architecture. The Promenade, which surrounds the entire city centre, the many parks and the Aasee lake are ideal for relaxing outdoors. Its diverse range of cultural events (city festivals, music festivals, art exhibitions, flea markets) and (sporting) activities make the city unique. Visitors from all over the world love shopping in the city centre or visiting the bars and restaurants in the Old Town.
What’s more, you can be in Düsseldorf, Cologne, Bremen, Hamburg, Berlin or Amsterdam in only a few hours by train. By air, Münster is easily reached via Münster-Osnabrück Airport or the airports in Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn or Frankfurt.
Activity
In addition to classes, the school also offers an attractive program of cultural and social activities which are organized and accompanied by our members of staff: guided tours of the city, cycle tours, international dinners, cinema, excursions, museum visits, pub tours, sports, a farewell dinner and much more. All of which ensures a relaxed atmosphere and makes your stay in Münster an eventful and stimulating experience.
The cultural and social program is included in the course price.
KAPITO also offers regular weekend trips to Cologne, Hamburg or other cities. The school has prepared sightseeing programs for these trips, which are accompanied by a guide from KAPITO. The KAPITO cultural and social service provides up-to-date information on events and activities that the students can undertake by themselves. The most popular leisure pursuits in Münster include inline skating, canoeing and visiting the unique Allwetterzoo.
These additional activities are, however, not included in the course price.
Location
Getting to the school from the airport
