For more than 30 years, TANDEM has been specializing in modern and successful language courses, as well as organizing language partnerships. You will find TANDEM in many interesting and attractive cities within Germany and worldwide - and, of course, also in Cologne! Our goal is to enable people from different backgrounds to meet and understand each other. TANDEM Köln offers German courses at all levels, from Beginner to Advanced. We place a special emphasis on using efficient and creative teaching methods while remaining flexible and open to the wishes and needs of our students. For, in addition to using the most professional teaching methods, the motto of our qualified teachers is: learning German should be fun! Small groups, communicative lessons as well as the friendly and encouraging atmosphere at our school will make it a pleasure for you to learn.  And so that you come into close contact with the German language and culture outside the classroom, we will provide you with a full cultural programs, private accommodation and a so-called Tandem: Enjoy the wide variety of cultural activities on offer, live with people from Cologne for a couple of weeks, and discover together with your Tandem partner the secrets of this fascinating city at the heart of Europe!

Accommodation

TANDEM® Köln has a professional accommodation service for  students who wish to use it. The most popular way to live in  our city is in a single room in a shared flat together with one or  more Cologne citizens (private accommodation). On request,  we can also look for a family accommodation (single room with  breakfast or half-board)  For all those who like to live their own lives without depending  on a host family, we can arrange a single room or small  apartment in the TANDEM® flat share on the 3rd floor of the  school building. The four single rooms (14 to 17m²) are bright  and quiet, there’s a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with  two showers and a washing machine, a toilet and a balcony. The  two apartments (18 and 30m²) are also fully equipped, have a  private bathroom and a kitchenette. One of them can be used  as a double room. In all rooms/apartments, there’s free internet  access via WLAN. As a courtesy to non-smokers, smoking is not  permitted within the entire flat (only on the balcony).

Surrounding Area

Cologne is more than a mere city break: its beautiful environs are ideal for day excursions by car or bike. Located east of Cologne, the natural beauty of “Naturarena Bergisches Land“ that surrounds the towns of Bergisch Gladbach and Gummersbach is well worth a visit. The Bonn area and the fascinating “Siebengebirge” range of mountains adjoin in the south upstream the River Rhine. And southwest of Cologne lies the Rhein-Erft area with appealing castles and attractive leisure facilities.

Activity

From July on our cultural program will take place again! Then we will inform you every Monday about the respective cultural program of the week. Among other things, tourist and historical city tours, boat tours on the Rhine, city plays, movies, theater visits, excursions, seminars on current topics, concerts, barbecue parties, etc. can be offered. (travel costs and tickets are not included in the course price). The cultural program takes place once a week. Please sign up on the list in time if you would like to participate in the program. Due to Corona regulations, the number of participants may be limited. For the weekend we are happy to give you tips, but there is usually no organized program.

Getting to the school from the airport

Directions by train: The KVB lines 15 and 16 stop at Chlodwigplatz. From there it is 3 minutes to TANDEM by foot. Go into Bonner Straße, then the first right into Zugweg and again the first right into Rolandstraße. Directions by bus: The KVB lines 106, 132, 133 and 142 stop on Bonner Straße (at Chlodwigplatz and Alteburger Wall), line 142 also at Zugweg. From all stops it takes 2 minutes to TANDEM by foot.
