Eckenberg GymnasiumAbout the
The Eckenberg-Gymnasium offers pupils more than just a place for intensive learning. Our educational goal is to educate children and young people to be democratic, cosmopolitan citizens and empathetic fellow human beings, at a school that becomes a place next to the parents' home where they feel comfortable and at home.
The “Adelsheim model” makes the EBG unique in the Baden-Württemberg school landscape: At our school with an attached boarding school, students have been able to choose between a G8 and a G9 train, each with a scientific or musical profile, for years. In combination with the G-3 train for Real, Werkreal and community school students, we can offer you a wide variety of routes to the Abitur.
Numerous working groups and afternoon homework supervision complement this wide range of courses!
The "Adelsheim Model" is a unique educational offer in Baden-Württemberg. This offer suits children in their individual, holistic development. Because after grade 6, the parents decide whether their children complete grades 7 and 8 within two (classic G8 module) or three years.
In grades 5 and 6, all students are taught in accordance with G8. At the end of class 6, based on the class conference and counseling sessions, a recommendation is made by the school. In doing so, attention is not only paid to personal learning abilities, but above all to the personal, emotional and social development of adolescents in the puberty phase. This gives a picture of whether the pupil is already firmly established in his or her maturity and has developed an adequate learning behavior, or whether an extension of the intermediate level to three years is more conducive to overall development.
With its Progymnasium in grades 5 and 6, the EBG receives the classic orientation level and, thanks to the three-year model, continues to offer permeability and an easier transition from Hauptschule, Realschule, schools with special forms of education, as well as for pupils from other federal states, to the High school. The other facilities of the EBG are also included: the boarding school of the Eckenberg-Gymnasium plays an important role for the acceptance of lateral entrants in the three-year intermediate level train (Adelsheimer model train).
The curricular requirements in both differentiation levels (two- or three-year) are identical, ie the educational and didactic basic conditions for both trains are the educational standards of grades 7 and 8. In the three-year train, there is also more intensive educational support in didactic, methodological and social areas .
The aim of the Adelsheim model is to bring both levels to a common, comparable level. Both trains will be reintegrated in class 9 in the G8 train common in Baden-Württemberg.
The profile selection takes place at the same time as the choice between eight and nine-year high school. In the orientation stage, the interests and talents of students are determined, developed and promoted in advance. In the first two years, music lessons will be strengthened, the practical subject natural phenomena will also be taught and a "working group life" will be offered. This gives the schoolchildren their first insights and makes it easier to decide between the two EBG profile trains (grades 7 to 10). On the one hand, there is the traditional music profile, which is supported by specific instrumental lessons. On the other hand, the students can choose the NWT / U profile

Surrounding Area
Adelsheim lies at the mouth of the river Kirnau which comes from the west, emptying into the river Seckach coming from the north. The combined stream was used in building the town fortifications. Farther downstream, the Seckach flows by Möckmühl into the Jagst, thence into the Neckar, and thence into the Rhine.
The Adelsheim area is part of the greater geographical region known as the Bauland, a mountain range stretching from the Odenwald in the northwest to the Jagst valley in the south as well as to the Tauber valley in the east. Part of the municipality's area lies within the Neckartal-Odenwald Nature Park.
