Grafton College is committed to a General English teaching programme that focuses on the learner. Our approach is student-centred and communicative, which means that teachers will focus on individual aims and interests to help learners use English in an effective and practical way. This course focuses on integrating the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing with emphasis placed on communication skills, improvement in fluency and confidence in speaking English. Teachers make use of course books, but also supplement lessons with authentic material and out-of-class activities. You should allow at least two hours of self-study per day.The courses offered by the college are 'real life based', i.e. students apply their academic learning to real life situations.

At the end of the General English course you will: * have improved your ability to use English orally and in writing * have a better understanding of Irish life and culture * be able to communicate with native speakers with greater confidence * be more aware of your own strengths and weaknesses as a learner * have developed study skills and strategies for independent study
Benefit, Goal of this course : The school year is divided into four 12-week terms, at the end of which you will revise course work, sit a progress test and be advised on what to do next. Detailed information regarding your progress, including strengths and weaknesses, will be included in your end of term report and your teacher will make recommendations, ensuring you make the most of your time with us.

Accommodation
Given that the majority of our full-time students come from outside of Ireland and the European Union, we recognise how important it is for the College to help students find suitable accommodation. Our Accommodation Office is dedicated to this task and provides information on the types of accommodation available. Grafton College works in partnership with VivaDublin, Abbey Court Dublin and host families which are open to offer accommodation to our interested students. For more details please don't feel hesitated to ask us.
Facilities
Building Grafton College occupies a five story listed building in the heart of Dublin, at a five minute walk from the famous Spire on O’Connell Street. All classrooms are bright, spacious and air-conditioned. The majority of classrooms have ICT facilities, including internet access, digital projection and audio equipment.
Library The College has a highly specialised library situated on the ground floor. It is equipped with more than 4,700 books and provides access to electronic books, articles and online catalogues of major university and national libraries in Ireland. You will also have access to online journals and databases through your Moodle account. It also offers regularly updated course and self-study material for English language students, including audio material and books for exam preparation and specific purposes.
Modern IT Facilities At Grafton College, students have access to five state-of-the-art computer labs as well as a dedicated Internet browsing area. There are over 100 PCs for student use which all provide free high speed Internet access and up-to-date software required to make your studies a success. All students also benefit from wifi hotspot zones as well as black and white, colour and multifunction printers. In addition, 24/7 Online Learning Resource, Allocated Study and Meeting Areas, and friendly staff are included.
