AKAMONKAI Japanese Language SchoolAbout the
Akamonkai Japanese Language School was established in July 1985 in front of the Akamon gate of the University of Tokyo. At present, the school has 2 school buildings and 4 student dormitories located in Tokyo's Nippori, and is a traditional Japanese language school where over 1,000 students from 25 countries study regularly. Akamonkai offers a "general course," "school entrance course", "business employment course" and "short term/internship program". A specialist instructor is assigned to each course, and the curriculum is designed to most efficiently and effectively achieve the goals of each course, without excessive focus on and adherence to existing curriculums. In addition, in recent years in particular Akamonkai has designed its curriculum and operated its courses based on new curriculum in newly created "special advances classes" and "business employment classes" to suit the needs of international students, providing all around support from entrance to the school through to graduation. These efforts have earned praise and we have been hailed as a Japanese language school that excels at total balance. At Akamonkai all our outstanding staff provide the fullest support possible to allow all enrolled students to achieve their goals with an aim to fostering human resources who can act and be successful globally.
Focus of Study : Akamonkai puts particular effort into making its curriculum suitable for beginners. Why? Because, when you build up solid fundamentals in the Beginner Class according to Akamonkai's educational policy, you will rapidly build comprehensive Japanese language skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening, allowing you to advance in a balanced manner. In addition, those who move on to higher levels without sufficiently acquiring the fundamentals have a tendency to have trouble advancing further, reach a limit and give up on the language. The Beginner Class has 3 courses: A 2 stage course which proceeds at a relatively fast pace, moving onto the next level in 6 months (Beginner 1 -> Beginner 2), a 3 stage course which proceeds at a slower pace with repeated review, moving onto the next level after 9 months (Beginner A -> Beginner B -> Beginner C) and a 4 stage course for international students having difficulty mastering Japanese to a satisfying degree and international students who have difficulties with foreign languages in general, moving on to the next level after 1 year (Introductory 1 -> Introductory 2 -> Beginner B -> Beginner C).
Benefit, Goal of this course :
Curriculum :
Akamonkai take consideration of all international students' personal goals and abilities, study styles, study time at home and the like so you can consult with us on your class schedule. However, at least a certain level of academic achievement is required to transfer from the 3-Stage or 4-Stage course to the 2-Stage Course. What distinguishes this detailed study-by-level arrangement is that, by starting every level at the beginning of a term, it creates a system in which students can review what they need to even if, during the middle of a term, they are unable to attend class or their understanding of the material is lacking. Through this system, international students are sorted into classes according to Japanese language ability, allowing them to study very efficiently and receive focused instruction on areas where they are lacking comprehension

Accommodation
The Akamonkai Japanese Language School dormitories can house approximately 300 students. Each room features full facilities including internet access. The dormitories are located close to Nippori Station on the JR Yamanote line, easily accessible from both the main campus and the Nippori campus, a location that is extremely convenient for commuting to school and for other travel. In addition, school staff are always on duty at the student dormitories, so that students can receive the necessary care and support for illness, injuries and other situations even when first arriving in Japan and unable to effectively communicate in Japanese.
Surrounding Area
Nippori, where the Akamonkai Japanese Language School is located, is a very appealing area which features very modern scenery as a result of recent redevelopment. The Nippori area includes the "Yanaka Ginza" shopping district where visitors can still get a glimpse of the way the area once looked, the "Yanaka Cemetery" with its beautiful rows of cherry blossoms, and the "Seni Tonyagai" area, where individuals looking to work in the fashion industry gather.Nippori Station, the closest station, provides excellent access to both central Tokyo and the suburbs, and is directly accessible by the JR, Keisei Main Line and the Nippori-Toneri Liner. Travel from Nippori to Narita Airport is possible in 36 minutes using the Keisei Skyliner.
Facilities
The main campus building was renovated with reinforced earthquake resistance in January of 2012. A variety of spaces were established for students to be able to interact in order to allow them to study at ease in an open manner. The self-study rooms where students can study 24 hours a day, manga corners and PC rooms are also very popular.
I was a beginner
in Japanese, so I started off with alphabet. It was really difficult to get
used to the new language. Thanks to encouraging teachers, who answered all my
questions very kindly, I had chances to speak in Akamonkai’s class. This helped
me tremendously in entrance exam.
For university
applications, teachers taught me the interview skills and helped me prepare for
the upcoming interview. I became more confident to speak to strangers and
later, enjoy my life in Japan. Akamonkai was a great choice for me! _____________________________________________________________________________________________________
아카몬까이를 선택한 것은 정말 잘한 것 같습니다^^ _____________________________________________________________________________________________________
