The main school, which is for adults only, is located in the lively seaside resort of Sliema, just 3 miles from the capital Valletta. St. Julians, Malta’s nightlife area is only 15 minutes away along the promenade.This modern centre is air-conditioned throughout and boasts bright well equipped classrooms, vending machines with snacks and drinks, a cafeteria, a bookshop, and an internet café with Wi-Fi access. There is also a self-access centre offering a selection of books and multi-media software free of charge.The Institute of English Language Studies (IELS), is a large all year round organisation specialising in teaching English as a foreign language. IELS was established as a joint venture in 1985 between Frosch Touristik International GmbH (FTI) and Festa Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of Mizzi Organisation.IELS was formed in 1985, with some 10 classrooms in Parisio Street, Gzira, which eventually was converted to a summer school for Teenagers when we moved into a new school premises in Mattew Pulis, Sliema in 1992. The purpose built premises is air-conditioned throughout, has bright, modern classrooms, a cafeteria, a bookshop, self-study centre and an internet café with free WiFi access. The school in Gzira has undergone a major refurbishment programme and has been renovated to create a dedicated learning environment for teenagers. The centre comprises an open-plan student lounge with a reception area, modern administration offices, 60 bright and airy classrooms, and a large internal courtyard.
Focus of Study : Many students coming to learn English in Malta choose the General English Course which aims to improve competence in general English. The course provides systematic practice in the four main areas of language learning: reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Curriculum : The first session concentrates on stabilising and improving present knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. The second session is fluency based with the objective of improving communication skills and helping students to gain confidence in spoken English. This course is ideal if students want plenty of free time to explore Malta and soak up the local culture.

Home Stay The IELS Student Accommodation team selects host families carefully and visits them regularly to ensure that only high standards are maintained. Most of the host families are situated in the neighbouring districts of our various schools so this is an ideal option for any student coming to Malta for an English course. A truly unforgettable experience not to be missed for those who want to really feel at ‘home’.
Student Residences Days Inn Residence, 3*** superior This residence is within walking distance of the IELS adult centre. The Days Inn Residence, which runs under our own management, consists of 55 studio apartments and 45 hotel rooms. Each studio apartment has:• A pull down bed and a single bed which can also be used as a settee • A desk which can also be used as a dressing time and a side table with reading lamp • A wardrobe • A luggage rack with 2 drawers and a coat hanger • A shoe rack • Kitchenette including a microwave, a refrigerator, a sink bowl, a toaster and kettle and various crockery and cutlery.
Each hotel room has:

Complimentary Wi-Fi service is available in the reception area for students to stay in touch with their family and friends.
Alborada Studios, 2** (economy) This option is suitable for budget-minded students who wish to enjoy a one-bedroom studio apartment with kitchenette facilities and live only a few minutes away from the school. Sharing facilities are also available.
Mercury Student Residence Located in a quiet area of Sliema and just 20 minutes walk from the school. There are 16 nicely furnished apartments, some with one bedroom, some with 2 and some with 3 bedrooms. The apartments are comfortably furnished,with a fully equipped kitchenette (with electric 4 burner top and oven), dining area and private bathroom. Each apartment is equipped with a safety deposit box. Most apartments have a balcony or terrace. There is also a self-service laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers (a nominal charge applies). The Residence is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. You will be living in a typical town street of Sliema, with hospitable and friendly neighbors. The local grocery store, pharmacy and butcher are just a few meters away.
Hotel Accommodation Additionally students can choose from a wide selection of competitively priced hotels accustomed to meeting the needs of adult language students.

Sliema is a lively and popular commercial town. The school is within a short walking distance of the seafront. The area is full of shops, restaurants, bars and leisure places. Sliema’s promenade is one of the most popular social meeting placesin Malta. Easy access to the capital city Valletta and other Heritage sites and areas of Malta.

The IELS Leisure Team carefully plans and organises all the activities for Adult and Young Learner students attending our Sliema and Gzira centres. The energetic and fun loving team aims to entertain as well as educate students when joining varied excursions. The team offers a choice of services to students such as bus route assistance, general advice on the Maltese culture and local events, etc. Transport and guided tours are also available on request.
