Malta – small but wonderful and, above all, sun-drenched. The sunshine island in the Mediterranean, between Sicily and North Africa, has developed into a real Eldorado for English students. Eurocentres also has Malta in its language study stays programme. Why? It’s quite obvious: A wonderful Mediterranean climate throughout the year, reminders of long forgotten cultures as fas as the eye can see and, as Malta was an English colony until 1964, English as the official language alongside Maltese. Malta is the main island of the Maltese Archipelago. Its little sister, Gozo, is a dream in green with its unspoilt nature and Comino, the smallest inhabited island, is car-free. Your language study stay in Malta will reward you with quickly acquired English skills, new friendships and unforgettable impressions. Mystic moments, majestic buildings and romantic bays will totally captivate you. And you will always enjoy the climate – mild in winter, and pleasant in summer, even when the temperatures are very hot, thanks to a cooling breeze. In the evenings, when the sun sinks into the ocean, the first sounds of the lively nightlife can be heard in the former fishing village of St. Julians. This is the place to meet and dance in the evenings. Malta may be small, but it offers something for every taste: peace and quiet, hustle and bustle, sightseeing and shopping, nature and nightlife.
Focus of Study : This is the most popular course as it leaves lots of free time to relax and sightsee.
Curriculum :
If students wish to improve their English rapidly, this is the course for them. The morning sessions give students practice in reading, writing and listening; whilst the afternoon sessions concentrate mainly on improving speaking and vocabulary.
On the first day at school, the Director of Studies will give them a written placement test and an oral interview to ensure that we place them in the best class for their level. Once their level improves sufficiently their teachers and the Director of Studies will discuss moving them up to a higher level. However if at any point during their course they feel that they would like to move up or down a level, they are free to discuss this matter with the staff.
The school has specially designed this course to ensure that all skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) are adequately covered and improved on. There are no more than 10 students per class, and a healthy nationality mix ensures that students get plenty of practice speaking in English.
The courses are offered at these levels: Beginner, Elementary, Lower Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and Advanced. Courses are available at all levels.
At the end of their course you will be given a Skylark certificate and a Student Report filled out and signed by their teacher.
Class hours: Mondays to Fridays 09:00-10:30; 11:00-12:30, 13:00-14:30

Surrounding Area
Malta covers just over 316 km2 (122 sq mi) in land area, making it one of the world's smallest states. It is also one of the most densely populated countries worldwide. Throughout history, Malta's location has given it great strategic importance, and a succession of powers including the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Aragonese, Habsburg Spain, Knights of St John, French and the British ruled the islands. Malta gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1964 and became a republic in 1974, whilst retaining membership in the Commonwealth of Nations. Malta was admitted to the United Nations in 1964 and to the European Union in 2004. Malta is also a party to the Schengen Agreement and in 2008 it became part of the Eurozone. Malta has a long Christian legacy and is an apostolic see. According to the Acts of the Apostles in the Bible, St. Paul was shipwrecked on "Melite", as the Greeks called the island, and ministered there. Catholicism is the official religion in Malta as declared by the Maltese constitution. Malta is internationally renowned as a tourist destination, with numerous recreational areas and historical monuments, including nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, most prominently the Megalithic Temples which are some of the oldest free-standing structures in the world.
