Benefit, Goal of this course : We offer General English classes at all levels. Students can choose to study General English either part-time or full-time. The course aims to develop and extend students' English language abilities through input and practice in the four skills: Speaking, listening, reading and writing, with emphasis on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Small class sizes and a focus on communication are an important part of these classes.
Curriculum : Levels are divided from Elementary to Advanced. Placement test is Oral and written placement test on arrival.
Classroom Hour : Full-time courses: 23h per week. Classes run between 8:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Thursday and between 08:00am to 2:20pm on Fridays. Part-time Courses: 17h per week. Classes run between 8:00am to 4:10pm Monday to Thursday and 08:00am to 2:20pm on Friday.

Accommodation
Accommodation AUT International House offers residential accommodation for students in the Wellesley Student Apartments. This safe and modern environment provides fully furnished student apartments, each containing 4 or 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering. All apartments have single bedrooms with a bed, desk, chair, and wardrobe, and are wired for phone/internet use (no phone or computer included). A Linen Package is required and will cost $120.00. This will be in your room on arrival. You need to provide your own bath towels. The Wellesley Student Apartments are located a 5-minute walk away from AUT International House and downtown Auckland with shopping, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, art galleries and public transport on your doorstep. Shops and cafes are located nearby. A communal area on the ground floor provides students with an opportunity to relax and meet with other residents. Onsite laundry facilities are also available. 24-hour onsite management and security services ensures the wellbeing and security of all residents. Students from other departments of AUT also reside in this building. An entrance lobby with reception desk providing service to students and visitors is located on the ground floor. The Wellesley Student Apartments have a set check-in on the Sunday before course start date and check-out on the Saturday after course completion. Weekly cleaning of the apartment and electricity is included in the weekly fee. There is also a placement fee and a refundable bond fee. It is essential to apply early for a place in the Wellesley Student Apartments as they fill up fast!
Homestay Accommodation Speaking English every day in a friendly supportive environment is one of the best ways to become fluent. Our accommodation staff place students in carefully selected New Zealand homes where they can become part of the family and enjoy the friendship and hospitality for which New Zealand people are known. AUT International House is a certified signatory to the New Zealand Code of Practice and the pastoral care of students is a major focus for us. We visit all homestays and careful placement of student's is a priority. AUT International House has a student lounge with microwaves, fridges and vending machines and a computer laboratory where Internet facilities are available for a small fee. AUT Internatinal House students can also use all the facilities of AUT including the library, the learning centre, the restaurants, the fitness centre and the medical centre,
Activity
Activities There are many places to see and activities to do in Auckland city and surrounding areas. Places to see include Auckland Museum, Auckland Zoo, Rainbow's End Theme Park. The adventurous can try the Sky Jump from the top of the Sky Tower, or bungy jumping from the Harbour Bridge. You can see sharks and other sea life at Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater World, go sailing, swimming or horse riding. Students can also see the latest movies, go to a comedy event, watch a live game of rugby, netball or soccer, or take a ferry cruise.
Free afternoon activities Every Friday, AUT International House organises student social activities after morning class. These student activities such as soccer – and/or games tournaments are free of charge. Should there be a fee for excursions e.g. a visit to the Museum or Sky City, the fee can be paid at the entrance. Activities will vary from week to week.
For students wanting to explore the beautiful scenery of New Zealand, weekend excursions are highly recommended. AUT International House works with a number of independent professional companies specialising in providing weekend excursions and activities for language school students in and outside of the Auckland area. The friendly guides are all experienced trampers and mountain bikers, and familiar with the tracks and landscapes.
Weekend Excursions Weekend excursions are organised to Rotorua, Coromandel and Bay of Islands and include a range of activities such as farmstays, swimming with dolphins, bungy jumping, diving, snorkelling, wine tasting, horse riding and skiing. Students can also book overnight trips. In winter there are ski trips to Taupo, Mount Taranaki and Mount Ruapehu.
