Surrounding Area
Dominion English Auckland school is located in a modern building in the centre of the city. It is just a few minutes from the Britomart transport terminal and only a short walk from bars, restaurants, shops, libraries and other city centre amenities. Auckland is New Zealand's largest city and was recently voted as having the 5th highest standard of living in the world. It lies on a narrow stretch of land between the beautiful Manukau and Waitemata harbours. Auckland, also known as the 'City of Sails', is regarded by many as the gateway to New Zealand. Popular destinations such as Rotorua, the Bay of Islands and Taupo are only a few hours away and are perfect for a weekend away. Alternatively, Piha, the Waitakere ranges and Waiheke Island are ideal for day trip.

Dominion General English
was really fun. It makes you get interested in the English study. Also because
the class is categorized with the students’ level, it isn’t too easy or too
challenging. There are 20 lessons and 25 lessons, I though 25 was too much for
me, so I took 20. Morning class 3 hours and afternoon class 1 and a half hours.
Morning class is mostly grammar and vocabulary, and afternoon class is mostly
speaking and communication. The class is really active, so it isn’t boring at
all and teachers are very enthusiastic. Students also get involved in many
activities that teachers prepare. In Fridays, there is a pronunciation
correction class, but it’s a free class, so students watch movies, have free
topic discussions etc. I really loved Friday classes. The nationality ratio is
like 50% Eastern Asian, 50% Middle Asian and European. I was shy at first, but
when I got to know friends from other countries better, I was able to
experience different kinds of cultures. The school provides home-stay or
residence outside the campus. I was going to home-stay, but I wanted to stay
with friends and make memories. Thus, I stayed in the residence. The school is
near the city center, so there are many restaurants, cafes, and places to hang
around. My experience in New Zealand was awesome.
