Curriculum: Intensive General English will provide you with the knowledge and skills to communicate effectively in English in a wide range of everyday and academic situations, both in New Zealand and internationally. The Intensive General English programme will provide you with a solid foundation to improve your English language skills allowing you to make the most of every opportunity, whether it be study, work or travel. Structured to help you gain real results at any level, you will improve your English fluency while developing your knowledge and skills in grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking. This course focus on improving the range and accuracy of grammatical structures and vocabulary, improving general and specific comprehension, working on all aspects of fluency, pronunciation and appropriate usage, increase speed, accuracy and comprehension, focusing on structure and organisation, correct register, summarising and paraphrasing This course starts every Monday, 24 hours per week.

Accomodation
Fern can arrange homestay accommodation for you if you would like a real Kiwi cultural experience. Living with a local family while you’re studying at Fern provides you with daily opportunities to practice your English language skills. All homestay students are provided with their own single room with a bed, lamp, drawers, linen and a heater. Also included are electricity, local phone calls and access to a washing machine. Bathroom and kitchen facilities are shared with your homestay family. Homestay accommodation is $220 per week (with a minimum four-week stay). This includes breakfast and dinner during the week and all meals during the weekend. A once-only placement fee of $280 will apply. Your placement fee includes an Airport Collection. Your host family will show you how to get to Fern School of English on your first day of class. A Homestay Application Form must be completed and sent to Fern at least two weeks prior to your arrival. You will need to provide us with your flight details if you want to be picked up from the airport. You must provide two weeks' written notice if you need to cancel your accommodation arrangements. All homestay fees must be paid to Fern together with your tuition fees.
Surrounding Area
Fern English is located in Auckland, New Zealand. Fern is an easy ten minute walk from the Westfield Downtown Shopping Centre, Queen Street and Britomart (central bus and train station). Auckland University is only a five minute walk from Fern. There is a supermarket and many local shops, cafes and bars nearby.

Student Café 80 Anzac Avenue hosts an on-site fully operational training café providing meals, snacks, coffee, tea and cold drinks. Multi-lingual Student Services Centre Our multi-lingual Student Services team provides guidance on a broad range of matters such as banking, accommodation, public transport, visa and insurance information. Fern School of English has an Online Visa agreement with the New Zealand Immigration Service allowing students already in New Zealand to apply for Fern visas through the Student Services Centre. Library and Cyber Suite The Library provides a quiet environment for study or just to read the local newspaper. The Cyber Suite is available for students to complete class assignments and stay in touch with friends and family through FREE access to the internet. Student Lounge The Student Lounge is located in a unique area, on the 6th floor roof top garden. There are many exciting features located in the lounge including a pool table and “chill out” area which is perfect for mixing and meeting other students.
