Founded in 1982, Seafield School is one of New Zealand's leading English language schools. Located by the sea in the beautiful city of Christchurch, Seafield offers professional English language tuition in an attractive, international and friendly school environment. Seafield's modern school building features 15 classrooms, computer room with free internet, wireless internet, library, common rooms, courtyards, gardens and free bike and car parking for students. The beach, shops, banks, cafes, Christchurch Pier, seaside public library, bus services and other amenities are all within a few minutes' walk from the school. The courses include General English, part-time and full-time, and preparation for the IELTS, TOEIC and Cambridge exams. Special features of this school include small classes (averaging 9 students in size), free one-to-one after class tutorials with students' own teachers, and an holistic approach to teaching by focusing on the needs of the individual student. It possible for students climb to the next level very quickly. General English program is taught by experienced, qualified and friendly teachers and is sutiable for all levels. The small class size averages between 8-10 students in each class. Students will gain confidence in a comfortable environment.
Curriculum : Full time consists of 29 lessons per week(23.75 hours per week). Courses start every Monday and students can take the course from 1 to 50 weeks. With primary focus on reading, writing, listening and speaking, all levels of English speaking students are welcome to join.

Half board (all meals except lunch on school days) or full
board (all
meals, every day) with local families is arranged for students studying at the
school. Homes are carefully selected and inspected to ensure the best for their
comfort and opportunity to practise their English. Each student has their own
room. Host families provide food, linen (towels and sheets), washing and
ironing facilities and all the usual comforts of a western-style home. Students
should allow about NZ$25 per week for bus transport to get to and from school.
Some students choose to bike to school. Each student is provided with a map of
Christchurch and a local information brochure.
Backpackers (Point Break Backpackers)
Located across the road (200 metres) from Seafield School of English and
5 minutes' walk from the beach, shops, banks, supermarket, bus & postal
services. Point Break Backpackers offers single, twin, double and family rooms
for 1 to 6 people. Single, female or mixed dormitories available. Shared
kitchen, bathroom and lounge facilities, and an internet café. Accommodation
available from approx. NZ$200 p/week.

With a rich English heritage, great shopping, active night life and a variety of cultural, leisure and sporting activities to enjoy at all times of the year, Christchurch is a great place to live and learn English. Christchurch has a temperate climate. Daytime temperatures in the warm, dry summer average 22 degrees celcius. Our winter months, June, July and August, can produce frosts and average daytime temperatures of 12 degrees celcius. Some of the leisure activities students can do are Great shopping - Christchurch has several large shopping malls in addition to street shopping & weekend markets, Nightlife - Christchurch offers a wide variety of evening activities, including bars, clubs, restaurants, cinemas, karaoke, theatre & concerts, Cultural activities - theatre, concerts, summer festivals.

Depending on the season, students can enjoy the beach, golf, tennis, horse riding, sailing, surfing, windsurfing, farm visits, fishing, shopping, jetboating, canoeing, art and crafts, city sightseeing or just relaxing.
