Hilderstone College is a non-profit language centre specialising in English language teaching and teacher training. Since 1970 Hilderstone has established an outstanding reputation for running top quality courses for adult students and teachers from all over the world. We work closely with universities, companies and government agencies in the UK and worldwide. We aim to provide student s with the highest quality in all aspects of their course- in the classroom, with homestay hosts, in the College itself, and outside the College during social activities. We have a rigorous system of quality assurance, and we do everything we can to ensure that students enjoy and benefit from their time at the College. Hilderstone is accredited by the British Council, and is a member of English UK and IALC.
This course is designed to improve your English language skills for work, study, travel or pleausre. We offer classes at all levels fro elementary to advaned, and make every effort to ensure a good mix of nationalities. Excellent teaching, clear course objectives which reflect the needs of adult learners, a wide range of resources and facilities, and a caring, experienced teaching team all help to ensure you make maximum progress. A short intensive English course, for a minimum of one week, can give your English a real boost. A longer stay can see your ability in the language increase to a much higher level, to help you achieve your professional, academic or personal goals.

Accommodation
We select our homestay hosts very carefully. You can look forward to a pleasant meal and a chat with your homestay host. The College has a full programme of social activities for you to enjoy in the evenings and at the weekends.
For other types of accommodation (e.g. hotel or self-catering), upon request, we can give you a list from the Visit Thanet website where, if you wish, you can make a booking.

-The majority of hosts are within walking distance of the College (30 minutes maximum)
-If you are palced with a homestay host further away, we will provide you with a free bus pass giving you unlimited travel in the local area.
Surroundings
Hilderstone College is located in the centre of Broadstairs, a beautiful seaside town with wonderful, golden, sandy beaches, on the south-east coast of England. It is attractive and friendly with excellent residential areas within walking distance. There is a great choice of small shops, restaurants, coffee bars and pubs in the town centre and on the seafront. Not far from the College is a modern shopping centre, and there are cinemas, swimming pools, sports facilities and much more in the local area. The town dates back over 700 years and has many historical connections, including to Queen Victoria, Charles Dickens and smugglers. It continues to be a popular destination for people coming on breaks and holidays, as well as to enjoy the many annual festivals and events which fill its busy calendar. Travelling to Broadstairs is easy- just one hour and twenty minutes from London by high speed train. The town is also close to the port of Dover, as well as the international stations of Ashford and Ebbsfleet. Travelling from a London airport- Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, or City- is simple: either take a train straight into London and catch the direct train to Broadstairs, or use the local airport shuttle coach service. If you prefer, we can arrange for a taxi to collect you from the airport and take you straight to your accommodation. There are shops, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants, banks, a library, a gym and a cinema, all in the town centre. The town has tennis courts, a golf course, a surf school, a sailing club and a coastal cycle path. There is a modern shopping centre, Westwood Cross, on the edge of the town with shops, supermarkets, a multiplex cinema and restaurants. There are events in the town throughout the year, including a Dickens festival, broadstairs Fol Week and blues music and food festivals. There are regular firework displays on the beach in July and August.
